Seicento anche noto con l\u2019appellativo di Luca\u00a0<em>Fapresto,<\/em>\u00a0data la leggendaria velocit\u00e0 con cui realizzava i lavori commissionatigli. Conosciuto a Venezia gi\u00e0 dagli anni Cinquanta, l\u2019artista potrebbe aver eseguito direttamente <em>in loco<\/em> l\u2019incarico durante un probabile soggiorno in laguna intorno alla met\u00e0 degli anni Sessanta.\u00a0L\u2019opera, che decorava l\u2019altare maggiore della Chiesa di Santa Maria del Pianto, rappresenta il momento della deposizione di Cristo dalla Croce. Emerge chiaramente dal dipinto il dolore di Maria, Giovanni Evangelista e della Maddalena, ritratti da Giordano in primo piano.\u00a0Il dipinto, prima del restauro, si presentava molto alterato.
