L’Indovina [The Fortune-Teller] by Giovanni Battista Piazzetta restored by Venetian Heritage
curated by Giulio Manieri Elia
The exhibition celebrates the restoration of one of the most famous paintings made by Giovanni Battista Piazzetta and purchased by the dealer Ehrenfreud in 1887 for the Gallerie dell’Accademia. The painter was one of the major stars of Venetian painting in the eighteen century and a great representative of the chiaroscuro movement.
Venetian Heritage is once again at the side of the Gallerie dell’Accademia in the preservation and promotion of its treasures, a project that comes after many others, including: the purchase of works by Giorgio Vasari, the setting up of the rooms on the ground floor of the Gallerie, and, lastly, the restoration of a number of chalk statues kept in the Collezione Farsetti and in the Gallerie’s warehouses.
